The Rustic Stamp Review

This blog post is somewhat of a rather semi-personal one to me for which ill explain along the way as to why.

I was recently given the absolute pleasure of being graced with receiving a beautiful item from a lovely small business called The Rustic Stamp. The Rustic Stamp is an Etsy based business and can be found here. The owner and creator of items at The Rustic Stamp is a very friendly woman called Melissa. Located in California, a long way away from me here in the UK, i was thoroughly surprised and shocked at just how quickly the item got to me from all the way across the pond. From the date of posting i received it exactly 7 days later, including weekend days.

After already having a discussion with Melissa previously about her items i already knew what i was going to be receiving but what i didn’t expect was just how much i would actually like it. I mean, i knew i would like it but for a few reasons (and this is where the personal part comes in) i liked it more than i initially thought i would.

Let me explain (ill try keep it short and brief). I suffer from anxiety….on a relatively bad scale. It originates from my emetophobia and the two go hand in hand…much to my distain! Anyways, for some reason….and I’m not sure if its anxiety related or not but i seem to have a ‘thing’ for forming a ‘bond’ with something inanimate. It doesn’t happen regularly but from time to time it presents itself and in most cases the reasoning behind the ‘bond’ is an anxiety related one. For example, i have a Christmas decoration which i keep up all year round. Its nothing big, just a handcrafted santa claus made from glass. This remains hung on the wall 365 days a year. Why? Because one time when i was exceptionally anxious and was having trouble getting to sleep from having waves of panic attacks i lay there and focused on the Santa Claus decoration which i had put on the wall (for safe keeping until the tree was due to go up, but in the end the santa claus never left that place on the wall and remains there to this day). I focused on his bright yellow belt buckle and his cheery face. This enabled me to distract my mind and focus on calming myself down. And for that reason, i have a little ‘bond’ with that santa claus decoration.

Here are some photos of the stamped spoon which i received from The Rustic Stamp.

As you can see it carries the words ‘Be Kind’ on the face of the spoon. I opted for these words because i planned (and as you can see from the photos) to make a wall art piece from the spoon to always remind me to ‘Be Kind’. Not only to other people but also to myself. I often have a knack of ‘beating myself up’ about things….even the smallest of things. And i believe this to primarily be down to my anxiety. Which i always work on to try to manage it efficiently. Some days are good, some are bad….and i think i need to remind myself more often to ‘Be Kind’ to myself.

Enough about my anxiety and back to the item and review.

The item i got is a teaspoon with handstamped lettering. Melissa has ALOT of items to choose from, not only teaspoons but other items too…such as keyrings, forks, garden markers and more. Melissa sources and uses vintage items so its important to note that your stamped item may have marks on it other than the stamped lettering. This just adds character and adds to the rustic feel. If you like the item i received then you can purchase your very own by clicking here. The cost of the item i got is £8.70p (at the time of typing this). And i think it is truly worth the money.

The Rustic Stamp offers a large variety of items (as i type this there are 200 in the etsy shop!) with different stamped wording on. Whether you want a cute loving saying for your partner, a funny remark for a friend, a personalised item for that special gift or like me a little something for yourself then The Rustic Stamp can cater. And IF you aren’t able to find something that’s suitable, then there is the option for a custom item to be made. I’m sure Melissa would be happy to help create the right item for you.

As mentioned earlier, i decided to turn my spoon into wall art. This didn’t take much doing and the overall finished result is rather effective and i love it. I used hessian as the background and finished off tying a natural coloured bow around the ‘shoulders’ of the spoon. You could of course do as you wish with your own or look online for inspiration. But for me i decided to stick with the rustic feel of the spoon itself and keep the overall layout rather simple so that i didn’t detract away from it.

Simply Scented Devon Wax Melt Review

I, have a HUGE passion for wax melts and anything that scents your home gloriously. And without taking away the focus from this blog post I would like to point out that I have my very own small business and within that business is an area of ‘home fragrancing’, including the making and selling of wax melts, but to name a few. I wont name my business in this blog post as like I said, I don’t want to take away focus from the business being blogged about here or their products. Plus, i do blogging and reviewing as an entirely separate entity from my business and so want to keep them unlinked as much as possible. So, while i have a very good understanding of the home fragrance ‘world’, what is required and/or expected etc I’m still only going to be reviewing the products i try from a consumer view point only…so the ‘business brain’ of me with it will be switched off.

With that being said lets get into the review…

I was lucky enough to have been sent some wax melts to review from a small business called Simply Scented Devon. Gail, the owner was very kind and generous with me and sent me a good selection of wax melts to try.

Sample pack size wax melts from Simply Scented Devon.

From the day i was notified by Gail that my parcel had been posted it only took a couple days for me to receive. The posting packaging was a standard envelope with the inner packaging being a turquoise and white polka dot paper bag with a ‘thank you’ sticker to seal the wax melts inside.

The wax melts themselves were encased in their own clear plastic packaging which i think had been ‘heat sealed’ (I’m not sure of the correct term) and finished off with the wax melt scent written on washi tape and attached accordingly.

The shape and size of the melts i received are on the small side. However, i would like to point out that this may be due to them being ‘sample’ sizes. The shapes varied from hearts to flowers and the colours were varied also, making for a very colourful little package. On the melts i received there were little imperfections, aesthetically speaking (chips, dents)…but honestly i think most people would be hard pushed to have wax (a soft substance) travel in the mail and not have any marks/dents on them. For me, its not an issue as i acknowledge this aspect and think it adds to the fact that its a handmade item…something which i passionately support. It doesn’t deter away from the product performance any but it may be worthwhile mentioning to Gail if you require more pristine melts, as i know she does wedding favours too….and so perhaps for this you may wish for more protection in the packaging area. But for the everyday use/user…its not a big deal at all.

Despite the size of the melts being small i would like to say that these pack a punch with the scent!!! As soon as i opened the parcel i could instantly smell them…in particular one came through more prominent than the others and i believe it to be the ‘Raspberry Vanilla’.

I had an internal battle with myself as to which to use first as honestly they ALL smell divine!!! There are a couple which remind me of some sort of sweet, or drink or ice lolly that i have had but i cant quite place what. But i can assure you its utterly mouthwatering and a nasal sensation!

I will do a brief explanation of each scent individually according to my scent perception.

Jamaica Me Crazy– This is sensational! I have this on as i type this blog and its one of the ones that reminds me of a sweet, drink or ice lolly. The scent, for me, has prominent pineapple and a sweet strawberry tones with hints or watermelon and orange. This one is ideal for imagining its summer but its also one to make you want to have a very refreshing fruit drink!!

Raspberry Vanilla– This one is the one that i could smell immediately when i opened the parcel. This one reminds me of a blackcurrent sweet that i had when i was younger..i want to say blackcurrent chewits. I don’t really get the vanilla through it but again, each persons scent perceprion varies.

Monkey Farts– I LOVE MONKEY FARTS! haha. While I’m confident that monkeys farts don’t actually smell like this I wouldn’t like to physically find out. So I’m happy living in the belief that this is what they smell like. This has banana tones running throughout the fragrance with additional fruit tones too….im not 100% sure what other ‘fruits’ i can smell but i want to say a pineapple almost.

Freesia– Now, i know i said i wasn’t going to do this blog with my ‘business brain’ but for the purposes of this particular scent i am. Freesia, for me, is a very special scent. It reminds me of my great grandma and my grandma. I often find freesia scents to be very difficult to ‘get a good one’. I have personally used a freesia scent within my own business and i hated it! It didn’t smell anything like freesia. So when i saw freesia in my parcel from Gail i was nervous…..i needent have been, because shes got a nice one!!! I haven’t used it yet but i can already tell that I’m going to like it when i do use it because its the best freesia scent ive came across yet in ANY home fragrancing item.

As mentioned earlier, the size of the melts i got sent are small in size. The nerd i am timed how long it took for them to melt in my electric burner. And it took almost seconds for the scent to start being emitted into the air and overall around 7 minutes for both of the melts the melt completely. It has been around 30 minutes now and the scent is still going strong and i am loving it. Gail has done an amazing job at fragrancing these melts and based off the ones ive been given I’m confident all her products are equally impressive in scent throw.

Simply Scented Devon is an Etsy based business and can also be found on facebook and Instagram too.

The price range for Simply Scented Devons products ranges from £0.25p-£10.00+. There is a mixture of product types to choose from (such as pick n mix, seasonal and shape specific) so I’m sure you will see something suitable for you.

There is a good variety of fragrances for you to choose from for your items, but from what i can tell its focused around fruity, floral and designer copies.

The p&p cost is £2.85 second class (at the time of typing this) but she does state that she can ship internationally too and to contact her for shipping quotes if you require international shipping.

All in all i think Simply Scented Devon is a delightful business that produces great quality home fragrance items and certainly shouldn’t be underestimated just because some of them may be smaller in size. I can confidently say that i have tried other melts from big chain brands that while may be double or even triple the size of Simply Scented Devon melts dont come close on the scent throw aspect. If you like your home smelling amazing then definitely give Simply Scented Devon a go.

Until next time, toodles.

Wuffitmix review

I was recently sent a product for Bane and Rusev to try from a family run business in the UK specialising in producing high quality food and treats for our four legged friends. That business is Wuffitmix. You can find out all the history of the business, when and where it started and how its grown over the years by clicking here. You can truly feel that they have a deep passion for the industry they are in which has continued to grow from the day it was just an idea.

Wuffitmix says ‘A range of nutritionally complete feeds for puppies, working, sporting or domestic dogs since the 1960’s’

What was sent?

Bane and Rusev were sent a ‘Lick N Mix’ to try and to review. These, in my opinion, are super amazing! I haven’t came across anything like this before and the whole idea and look of it is very appealing.

The ‘Lick N Mix’ is a large ‘milkshake cup’ style container whereby YOU choose which products you want in it. Think ‘pick n mix’ but for dogs…hence ‘lick n mix’. There is a VERY good variety of options of treats to choose from and honestly you get ALOT for your money. You can choose 5 out of a possible 12 products and each product has its own benefits which are listed along side each treat (for example- ‘Peppermint Bones’ these aid to freshen breath). So I’m sure you can agree there is plenty to choose from with options to choose both sweet and/or savoury items which again is a great idea since it further adds variety into the mix.

The price of the ‘Lick N Mix’ I’m not 100% sure about as the website states ‘50% off £3.99 free delivery’. I’m not sure if I’m being exceptionally blank with understanding this but I’m not sure if it means £3.99 is the price WITH the 50% off or if you get 50% off the £3.99 price. I’m also not sure if the free delivery is always offered on this particular product. Their normal delivery/postage is calculated based off weight so I’m not sure the free delivery is always offered on the ‘Lick N Mix’ item. Meaning that as I type this I would rush on over there after you’ve finished reading this and grab one for your own pooches before the deal is finished.

The website says ‘The Lick N Mix range consists of soft treats, biscuits, training aids and dental sticks which all have their own purpose in the life of a happy healthy dog. The unique and fun pick n mix concept allows you to choose only the treats most suitable for your dog and their needs.’

What I got in Bane and Rusevs

In Bane and Rusevs ‘Lick N Mix’ they got ‘Doggy Mixtures’, ‘Puppy Love Hearts’, ‘Fishy Favourites’, ‘Swirlers’, ‘Poultry poppers’ topped with ‘Cookie Crunch’. (And I would like to point out I haven’t gotten to the bottom yet so there may be others in the mix that I haven’t mentioned…I say this as I was unaware until I got further down in the mix that there were some ‘Swirlers’ in there!)

Bane & Rusev Food Tasting….

Have a watch of Bane and Rusev tasting the Wuffitmix for the very first time. And then continue to have a read of the blog for a written evaluation aswell as staying to the very end and looking and laughing at the blooper photos.

As I’m sure you can see from the video they both enjoyed the ‘Lick N Mix’. Depite poor Bane taking a few seconds to realise there were treats on the floor to be had. Rusev, as you can see inhaled the Cookie Crunch treats first….are we to assume he has a sweet tooth? I think so! Don’t worry though, Bane did get more than the 1 cookie crunch that you seen him get in the video…they’ve both had more since this video and they both thoroughly love them and all the other treats in the Lick N Mix cup.

Watching and Waiting for the go ahead to start gobbling…

Its no shock that these two are little piggies when it comes to food. BUT I have to say that while they do generally eat almost everything and anything that they have no problems turning their nose up at something if they don’t like it….especially Bane.

I truly do love ALL aspects of the Wuffitmix ‘Lick N Mix’ cup. I haven’t came across anything like it before and I think its a rather fun and unique way for dog treats to be bought. I like that you can choose your treats, I like that you get your monies worth, I love that the dogs love them and I adore the nutritional factors. All in all this is, for me, a spectacular product which has thoroughly been thought out by wuffitmix to bring people and more importantly their dogs a versatile product which can cater to all types of dogs. I cant recommend it high enough. I had a teeny tiny concern…or more curiosity I would say as to how they would post such a thing and it not spill out everywhere but rest assured it comes VERY secure! (the two images shown below are how they come posted/packaged)

Extra photos

Here are some extra photos (not the blooper ones) for you to have a look at.

Because nothing with animals every goes as planned…. (I did have a video of bane crying at the Lick N Mix cup to have more but I seem to have lost it, BOO!)

I truly hope that this blog post has encouraged you to purchase your own ‘Lick N Mix’ cup because I really cant praise it highly enough.

Please do stop by Wuffitmix on their website, facebook, twitter and Instagram. As always, be sure to stop by Bane and Rusevs instgram too and also finally my own Instagram.

Toodles for now.

SheaPlus Lip Balm Review

sheaplus lip balm reveiw 2

As an overall general ‘rule’ lip balm is just lip balm. Its purpose is to nourish and moisturise lips.

I’m sure I cant be the only body on the planet whereby I am constantly battling dry lips. I seldom get sore chapped lips, even in winter. But I seem to have an all year round lip dryness going on.

I have tried exfoliating daily, I have tried this using my toothbrush and lip scrubs and while they do work, at the time, it only takes a few short hours for my lips to be dry again. And so I have kind of gave up hope of finding a product/technique that truly works and will get me the moisturised lips I long for.

For a short time now I have been using an intensive lip balm daily. I have been using the carmex lipbalm. And I find this to be rather amazing and keeping my lips moisturised for longer, though towards the end of the day or unless I keep reapplying (and I sometimes do) then the dryness comes back into my lips.

So, based off my personal lip ‘condition’ and the things I have tried in the past I already knew before trying these lip balms that the chances of them solving my issue were rather slim. However, that doesn’t mean that while they may not have got me smooth lips that they therefore ‘don’t work’. As I truly believe that they WILL have helped and will continue to help, even though they wont ‘cure’ my issue. As I said, I am on the more very dry end of the scale.

What I received

I recently got sent a couple lip balms from Sheaplus to try. I got the scent/flavours ‘Mojito’ and ‘bubblegum’. Both smell and taste delicious!!! I was sceptical of the mojito one but in a shocking turn of events its actually my favourite of the two.

sheaplus lip balm review
I received 2 10g tins of lip balm. These are priced at £2.85* (exc p&p)

The MojitoAuthentic Cuban Mojito Cocktail inspired Lip Balm, beautifully moist Natural Lip Balm with the right long-lasting consistency. A combination of sweetness, refreshing lime and a mixture fresh mints. This balm has a good lime-y, minty refreshing aroma, it is sure to delight Mojito lovers and those who appreciate great natural ingredients… So fresh and uplifting.

Bubblegum– A traditional sweet bubblegum and a nostalgia inducing scent/flavour.

*I must point out that I’m not 100% certain on the pricing as the facebook page only shows ‘personalised’ pricing and not ‘standard’ pricing. I don’t know if this means that there is no price difference or if the personalised pricing is the only pricing available.

How does Shea butter help?

Shea Butter is processed from the nuts gathered from the Karite Tree, meaning the “Tree of Life,” and indigenous to Africa. This tree takes 20 years or more to produce its invaluable fruit, the Shea nut. The ripened nuts, regarded to as “women’s gold.” The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea butter makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturising for skin and aids in the skin’s natural collagen production.

In Lip Balms sheaplus only use Organic unrefined Virgin Shea Butter – Certified Organic and Fair Trade (Butyrospermum Parkii) Premium (A) grade, 100% Unrefined, as raw, natural and as beautiful as you can get it. It retains all its natural content (vitamins A, E, F, minerals, proteins and a fatty acid profile) to ensure that it is suitable for a variety of skin types and that it will help your skin retain its brilliance and elasticity, it helps promote youthful skin, reduce fine lines and dryness.

Shea butter gets to work deep in the skin and leaves it feeling soft, smooth and refreshed. It is known to contain a number of ingredients with biological activity that includes moisturising and healing skin afflictions.

● Vitamin A – Necessary for healthy skin function, prevents scarring, anti-aging.
● Vitamin E – acts as an anti-free radical agent with anti-aging benefits, increases micro-circulation of the skin, repairs cellular degeneration, moisturises skin.
● Essential Fatty Acids – building blocks for the collagen in our skin, promotes tissue repair, prevents scar tissue formation and is anti-aging.
● Vitamin F – protects the skin, particularly from the sun’s harmful UV rays.

Because of an abundance of healing ingredients and its superior moisturising activity, Shea Butter is in a unique class as a stand-alone personal care product. Its vitamin rich micro-structure allows your skin to retain moisture, regain its elasticity and repair cellular degeneration.

Product Performance

What did I make of Sheaplus Lipbalms? Ill break it down into packaging and then performance.

Packaging– The 10g tin is a packaging that I like and prefer over stick lipbalms. There is the option for either or on the facebook page so for those that prefer the stick option then Sheaplus has your covered. The tins that Sheaplus use are screw top tins, YEY! Theres nothing worse than hunting around in your bag or pocket for your lip balm tin only to be met with an abundance of oily gloop because the lid has came off. The screw top lid will ensure this doesn’t happen.

The labelling on the packaging is a bit ‘indecisive’ I feel. The two I received have two completely different label styles and I would never, if presented with them unknowing they were from the same business, guess that they would be produced from the same place. I prefer the look of the mojito lip balm label as opposed to the bubblegum one as it looks more sleek and stylish. With that being said, its nothing major but from my own personal perspective I feel products within a business should ‘flow’.

The postage packaging was a padded envelope. The products were wrapped in pink tissue paper and a small paperslip with Sheaplus information was included also.

A side note about the shipping. I’m a little confused, and its nothing major but on the back of the products the business information states ‘Hampshire, England’ yet when I received the parcel it had a French postage on it, and took just over 2 and a half weeks to get here… I’m not sure of that aspect. Nothing too negative just more confusing and perhaps something to be aware of if you want to order and it hasn’t arrived in a few days. UPDATE– after writing this review sheaplus informed me that she had to spend time in france.

Product– I have used both lip balms since receiving them. They are very firm in consistency but as soon as you put your finger onto the product it starts to melt very easily, which allows for a quick and smooth application. The scent and flavour of the lip balms is very present when you apply it but it does of course weaken over time, as do most. The mojito scent is very lime prominent to me, which I love! It makes for a nice change from the traditional ‘strawberry’ or ‘mint’. The bubblegum is very much as you would expect in scent, though not as powerful as most lipbalms which I have tried which have bubblegum scent/flavour. This is not necessarily a good or a bad thing, just something I noticed.

When the product is on my lips it doesn’t feel as oily as some that I have used. Its not tacky either, which is amazing! The only perhaps possible downside to the lip balms to me, and it may not even be a down side entirely is that the longevity of the product on my lips isn’t very long at all….I would say within a half hour that there is little to no product left on my lips and so I’m needing to reapply. I say that I’m not sure that its a bad thing because I want to believe that its due to the fact that my lips are so dry and needing the moisture that theyre absorbing the product like theres no tomorrow. After the product has soaked into my lips, after about 30 minutes, my lips feel very soft but slightly tight on the dry/drying areas and its a feeling which doesn’t really go unless I put more lip balm on, which every 30 minutes is going to be a bit annoying. I find that the bubblegum is less lasting than the mojito, I’m not sure why.

Comparing the Sheaplus to carmex (since that’s what ive been using) the longevity differs immensely. Carmex can last me hours. But I do love the mojito scent/flavour a lot more than carmex. I can also find carmex to be a little more excessive in how oily it feels on the lips. But carmex is designed for a more intensive treatment. Perhaps sheaplus could develop an intensive treatment lip balm? This would be PERFECT!

With all that being said I don’t want anyone to think that this is a negative review. As its not. I like Sheaplus and the lipbalms that were sent to me. I reviewed these from the standpoint that not everyone has excessively dry lips like me and so for the majority of people these will be more than sufficient and do a fantastic job. But for me, while I will continue to use them I feel that they may have to be a lip balm that I use primarily for the scent/flavour as opposed to the job that they do on MY lips. I think I will put them ontop of my carmex one so that I can get the longevity of the carmex and the scent/flavour and shea butter benefits from the sheaplus ones.

If anyone has any tips/tricks or product suggestions for excessively dry lips then leave a comment below.
